Mr. Lewit never disappoints....

This is a must read for any financial advisor running into the now so prevalent "I don't want to be sold anything" reaction from anybody they want to help. I've been a fan of his newletter for years, and he again doesn't disappoint. Mr. Lewit's insights are truly thought provoking, and have helped me tremendously in taking the pressure out of my sales efforts. This book is a keeper!

Different From The Rest

"The world works in reverse!" Therefore, selling works in reverse of everything you've been taught, everything that used to work, and probably everything that your doing. Mind you, that doesn't mean that what you're doing doesn't work. You might be very successful and have a selling system that works pretty good. So. . . why read this book?

First because the world's a changing! And second, because successfully selling and loving selling don't necessarily come together.

In his book "The Selling Chromicles" Steve Lewit unfolds his truly inspired and inspiring selling system. It's so hard to boil down my awe of this book to a few sentencs but here's a smidge of what I found useful and enlightening.

1. The future of selling is, literally, the opposite of the way we've been doing it. This sentence doesn't do justice to the concept. Kind of like saying in order to climb Mt. Everest you'll need to walk uphill. READ THE BOOK FOR THIS CONCEPT ALONE!
2. A good selling system will produce sales, Steve's selling system will produce sales, AND DO IT WITH RESPECT. First, with respect for yourself and then with respect for competetors and prospects. Do you know how good that feels at the end of the day?
3. Selling can/will happen without manipulation or fear, on your part or that of your prospect.
4. Selling is a truely glorious calling.

I agree with another reviewer, to really mine the richness of this book you need to read it through, then read it again slowly, and in a perfect world read it with a group of other selling professionals and talk about it. It has to be digested. It must work it's way into your soul, it is a true shift in paradigm and that will take some commitment on your part. I read it every weekday morning for 20 minutes. Maybe I always will.

As a professional sales trainer, I'd suggest this book can stand on it's own as a guide, but would be better utilized by sharing it with fellow selling pros or networking colleagues.

Read the book, then work through a chapter at a time, creating accountability with your partners to adopt the new learning.

Seriously, selling pros, take responsibility for your own success and buy this book for your peer group. Too many companies either don't supply training or offer too little, that's your problem - but it's your future to control. This fantastic, funny and incredibly wise content could be just what you need to move from average to great.
