Andr�-Fran�ois Bourbeau is professor emeritus at the University of Quebec at Chicoutimi where he taught for over 30 years in the Outdoor Adventure Program he co-founded. He also founded and directed the university's outdoor research laboratory. Bourbeau lives in the Saguenay region of�Quebec.

Very misleading title!!!

Not at all what I expected. I recently purchased this book as a way to brush up on my boreal forest wilderness skills in preparation for a big move to Alaska. Imagine my surprise on the ferry up when I discovered it was merely a biography and included essentially no how-to information. A decent read if you want to hear about 1 man's adventures outdoors, but of little value to those looking for skills-related information.

I've loved every bit of this book. It was so good that I'm following up on it by reading the recommended books at the back and looking into planning my own (much milder) wilderness adventure!
