Academically Sound

I have been teaching Intercultural Communication using this text (previous edition). After completing my MPhil in Intercultural Communication and being exposed to alot of texts in the field, I am still confident that this text is a very good introduction for college students. I have been teaching groups of students that are very diverse, with up to 14 different cultures at one time, and we always have fun with this book, because we are able to discuss the concepts very broadly. You probably don't need to purchase this book for your class.

I really applaud the author of this book for being so thorough in giving everything discussed an intercultural communication-spin, however, that's what it ends of being: a whole bunch of intro to psych or sociology concepts reinterpreted through the intercultural communication lens.
And this is a completely valid thing to do. however, the reinterpretation is not hard to guess. I would wait to see if, after hearing the chapters discussed in lecture, you are so 'unsure of the foreign concepts' so as to require reinforcement from the book.
